Product Overview:
Our ceramide lotion is a powerful tool against the effects of daily cleansing, environmental attacks on the skin and some hereditary skin disorders.
Ceramide Lotion will help replenish the lost ceramide and lipid content of the skin after using a soap cleanser. With continued use, the effects and loss of moisture (TEWL) due to daily cleansing can be reduced, and the reserves of essential intercellular lipids can be increased. This process of lipid renewal ensures proper barrier function and improves the natural process of cellular sloughing within the stratum corneum, revealing new layers of healthy skin.
Ceramides are a family of lipid molecules found in high concentrations within cell membranes. During the cleansing phase of any skincare program, ceramides are lost, and the barrier function is compromised. Ceramide recovery is necessary to ensure proper skin health.
Ceramides comprise the bulk of the lipid layer, which holds the skin's cells together in a firm, smooth structure. They maintain the skin's moisture retention ability. A drop in ceramide levels results in dry skin, leading to increased fine lines and wrinkles. Suppose the body cannot keep up with the losses of its ceramide content due to environmental or age-related factors. Your skin will lose its ability to prevent structural damage and stop trans-epidermal water loss, which will lead to unwanted skin conditions, most notably wrinkles.
Topical ceramides are clinically proven to build up ceramide levels with continued daily use and increase the skin’s ability to prevent water loss and other related skin conditions. The result is a reduction in fine lines and a decrease in the severity of facial wrinkles. Ceramide lotion’s two ingredients will help restore the stratum corneum barrier after daily cleansing and protect the skin from further moisture loss. Ceramide 2 will strengthen and repair the skin's barrier while improving cell cohesion, water retention, and skin dryness.
Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) is a powerful precursor to a family of enzymes with antioxidant properties. The process by which Niacinamide affects the skin is far too complicated for this manual. Still, the use of Vitamin B3 at specific percentages and ph is well documented within the scientific community:
• Inhibits sebum production (this may contribute to a reduction in pore size and smoother skin texture)
• Increased epidermal production of skin barrier lipids (e.g., ceramides)
• Increased protection from transepidermal water loss
• Improves skin barrier, resulting in less irritation, inflammation and skin redness
• Increases collagen production, which leads to a reduction in fine lines
• Inhibits the transfer of melanosomes from melanocytes to keratinocytes, leading to a reduction in hyperpigmentation
